God is a Playhouse, Not a Play
The Son doesn’t argue with the Father
nor does he yell at his brother
across the Indian Sea,
nor at his yellow-robed cousins
beyond the Taklamakan,
nor with the alien priests
who carry the same strong wine
from world to world

God doesn’t just pluck the highest fruit of Eden
or skim the exosphere for angel dust.
Yet do we really want to know the whereabouts
of a Spirit that permeates both high and low --
the tubes and ducts of animals
and strange amorphic beings that drift
in the deepest ocean trenches of outer space?
